Medical Causes of Appetite Loss in Dogs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Many different medical conditions could cause appetite loss in dogs. Here are some of the common ones:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digestive issues:<\/strong> Anything that impacts the gastrointestinal tract, including Parvo<\/a>, constipation<\/a>, inflammatory bowel disease, an upset tummy, and an obstruction caused by a foreign object can cause appetite loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dental problems:<\/strong> Painful periodontal disease or broken or loose teeth<\/a> can make a dog reluctant to eat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Illness:<\/strong> Kidney failure, liver problems, pancreatitis, certain cancers, and parasitic infections like heartworms<\/a> can diminish a dog\u2019s appetite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joint problems:<\/strong> An injury, hip dysplasia, or the pain and stiffness of arthritis<\/a> can make it uncomfortable for dogs to walk to their food bowls and lower their heads to eat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
