At <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eastsacvet.com\/\">East Sacramento Veterinary Center<\/a>, we\u2019re here to help you understand why sunscreen and bug spray are just as important for your pet as they are for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can Pets Get Sunburned?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.akc.org\/expert-advice\/health\/do-dogs-need-sunscreen\/\">Yes\u2014especially if they have light-colored fur, thin coats, or exposed skin.<\/a> Common areas affected include the nose, ears, belly, and any spot where fur is sparse. Pets who love to lounge belly-up or explore during peak sun hours are at even greater risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Signs of sunburn in pets include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Red or pink skin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dry, flaky patches<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whimpering or sensitivity to touch<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hair loss in sun-exposed areas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Repeated sun exposure can do more than cause temporary discomfort.
