Hidden Health Risks in a Dirty Bed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n


Every single day, your pet\u2019s bed collects flakes of skin, shedded hair, and microscopic drops of oil. If your pet spends any amount of time outside\u2014as she should\u2014the bed will also be a receptacle for debris from the outdoors. This could be anything from previously peed-upon bits of grass to smears of poopy<\/a> snow from the yard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gross, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Always follow the instructions on the bed\u2019s care label\u2014and when you\u2019re buying a bed, look for one with a removable and washable cover. It makes life a million times easier than buying a bed that has to be washed in its entirety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most fabric covers can be washed in warm water with mild detergent and a pet-safe laundry disinfectant to get rid of stubborn smells. Vacuum the bed\u2019s insert or foam base to reduce microbes, or consider spraying it with a pet-safe fabric spray to reduce the amount of microbes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
